| PDP demands better civic amenities for Chanderkot populace | | | Early Times Report BATOTE, Oct 26 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today asked the concerned authorities to provide basic facilities to the residents of Chanderkot where Baglihar Hydroelectric Power Project is constructed. PDP expressed surprise this project has been providing electricity to the whole country but the residents of Chanderkot have been facing numerous problems. Speaking on the occasion party general secretary Thakur Balbir Singh regretted that executing authorities of the Baglihar Hydro-electric project have not taken even a single step to provide facilities to the resident of Chanderkot. “Baglihar hydroelectric project is located in the vicinity of Chanderkot but the locals of this area are not getting any benefit of this so-called dream project”, he said and assured the people that PDP would take up their issue with the concerned authorities. Speaking on the occasion, party secretary and MLC Sayeed Asgar Ali, “It is unfortunate that locals are not provided any facility by the executing agency. PDP leaders assured the people that PDP would take this issue to the streets and force the authorities to provide facilities to the locals. Meanwhile PDP constituted body for Batote zone with Shakil Ahmed Bhat of Batote as president, Mushtaq Ahmed Rather of Assar as senior vice-president, Master Abdul Gani of Kastigarh as vice-president, Nazir Ahmed Mir as general secretary, Suman Gupta and Choudhary Nizam ud-Din Khatana as secretaries and Prithivi Raj as joint secretary. Later keeping in view the demand of the locals, PDP leaders wrote a letter to the Chief Engineer of the Power Development Corporation (PDP) and asked him to fulfill demands of the people of Chanderkot.
