Early Times Report Jammu Oct 26 Hari Chand Jalmeria Advocate State President Kisan Sabha along with a team of Kisan leaders visited Kandi areas of tehsil Jammu to see and assess the loss suffered by farmers due to the drought. Speaking in meetings of farmers held at Saruinsar, Aithem and Kanna Chhargal, Kissan leader Jalmeria, expressed concerns over the acute shortage of water, almost entire loss of Kharif crops, non availability of ration, lack of work in rural areas and evasive attitude of the Govt. to pay compensation/relief to the farmers for the loss suffered by them to their crops due to the drought. He asked the State Govt. to properly project the demand of compensation of the farmers before the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh who is visiting the State. He also appealed the Prime Minister to provide support and compensation to the farmers so as to enable them to withstand the crisis they are facing due to the failure of Monsoon this year. This issue is human and more important than talking to extremist and separatist groups, Jalmeria maintained. Pt. Tek Chand, Surinder Manhas, Devi Singh, Shashi Pal, Amarnath, Sudershan Singh, Parbhat Singh, Jagdish Khajuria, Romesh Sharma, Kamal Jamwal, Rajinder Singh Sarpanch, Chander Shekhar, Karnail Singh, Din Mohd; Nasib Singh, Madan Sharma, Krishan Singh, Sharif Mohd, Jagan Nath, Girdhari Lal Sadhotra. During his visit he also constituted committees in these areas which decided to hold massive demonstration at Jammu in support of farmers demand of Compensation for drought like situation.
