Public Opinion Forum organized a seminar on the topic ‘Intrigues to Nullify Accession of J&K and Fate of Nationalists here today. The well attended seminar was organized to celebrate the signing of Instrument of Accession on 26th October, 1947 between then Maharaja Hari Singh and the Indian government.
The seminar was attended by a large number of intellectuals from Jammu. Speaking on the occasion Prof. Hari Om stressed the need for understanding the whole issue of accession and asserting its validity and non-revocability. Digvijay singh talked about the historical perspective of the issue and stressed the need for nationalist forces to unite and fight against separatist tendencies. Mr. Ajay Charangoo discussed the issue from migration perspective and warned against complacency that he said was responsible for the present state of affairs where the fate of nationalist forces was under serious threat. Sh. Daya Sagar dealt with the blunders that successive governments at state and central levels committed and complicated the whole issue of Jammu & Kashmir.
While addressing the delegates in the seminar, senior politician and ex-MLC, Sh. Ashok Sharma expressed his anguish over the ignorance of central leadership of the country o9n the issue and stressed the need for taking the issue to the public domain by educating people about the nefarious designs and conspiracies being hatched against the secular character of the state. Sh. Y R Gupta also addressed the seminar and stressed the need for solving the long pending issues of POK refugees as their predicament remains unsolved for sixty two years.
Prof. Virender Gupta discussed the whole issue in detail and advocated a well structured strategy to defeat anti national forces. He presented a resolution to the house for ratification. The resolution included fighting separatist tendency, empowering people of Jammu region, Ladakh, displaced minorities including POK refugees and to unite all nationalist forces so as to defeat those within and outside country who are advocating concepts like self rule, azadi, irrelevant borders, greater autonomy etc.
In presidential address Sh. Ashwani Sharma, MLA Bishnah expressed his views on the issue and assured the house that he will continue to fight on behalf of the nationalist forces in the assembly as well as outside the assembly. Sh. K. K. Wahi, Chairman Public Opinion Forum p[resented the vote of thanks while Dr. Gopal Parthasarthi, General Secretary of the Forum conducted the seminar.
