| Milk & egg production up in Anantnag | | | Srinagar, October 03 As a result of strenuous efforts of Animal Husbandry Department, milk and egg production of 1.10 lakh metric tons and 27.19 millions respectively was recorded during last six months in Anantnag district. Similarly, the total breed able population in the district has increased to 213127 including 155648 cross bred. This was given out at a meeting of officers held here the other day to review the functioning of Animal Husbandry department with the DDC, Anantnag in chair. As many as, 43566 artificial inseminations were done , 5544 castrations conducted and 15030 births recorded under cross breeding programme during the period, the meeting was told. Under health cover, 124147 non-contagious and contagious cases have been treated, 203261 cases vaccinated and 162548 dosing performed at different Veterinary Centres. About 190 major and minor surgeries were also conducted. Under Poultry development, 463620 doses of vaccine were administered to poultry birds and sale of 2450 breeding birds and 10770 day old chicks was conducted during the period in the district. As many as, 409 backyard poultry units and 79 private farms have been established in the district, the meeting was informed. |
