Security forces claimed to have gunned down two militants of Hizbul Mujahideen, including its District commander, after an encounter in Chadooa area of Budgam district.
An per an official spokesman, army launched a massive search operation at Choodra area late last night and managed contact with two militants hiding in a house. The house was cordoned off leading to a gun battle, sources said adding, in the ensuing encounter, which lasted till this morning, both militants were killed.
On removing the debris this morning the security forces recovered two bodies who were later identified of those of Muhammad Ashraf Ganai, district commander of HM, and Naseer Ahmad Wani.
Arms and ammunition, including two AK-47 rifles, one pistol, eight magazines, one grenade thrower and a wireless set were recovered from the two slain militants. |
