| Several cases sorted out in Lok Adalat held at Kathua | | | Early Times Report Kathua, Oct 27: In pursuant to the directions given by the Honble High Court of J&K a Mega Lok adalat was organized today in the premises of District Court Complex Kathua and was held under the chairmanship of Kartar Singh, Principal District and sessions Judge Kathua who is also the chairman of District Legal Service Authority Kathua. For the amicable settlement of the cases/disputes referred to the Lok-Adalat two benches of presiding officers were constituted. The first bench was comprised of Kartar Singh, Principal district and sessions judge Kathua and was assisted by Anjum Ara, Munisff Judicial Magistrate first class Kathua. Fifty one cases pertaining to motor Accident claim petitions and four bank cases were take-up by this bench out of which thirty five M.A.C.T were amicably settled by way of negotiation, mediation and conciliation and an amount of Rs. 67.85 lakh was awarded in the claim petitions in favour of the claimants and also all the four bank cases were settled by this bench. The second bench comprised of Deepak Sethi Chief judicial Magistrate Kathua and Ramesh Lal District judicial Mobile Magistrate Kathua (Traffic) Kathua, 271 criminal Compoundable cases of different nature were referred and taken up by this bench out of which 165 cases were amicably settled and disposed off and compounding fee of Rs. 96600/- were realized on the spot. The representatives of different insurance companies Advocates, litigants attended the mega Lok Adalat.
