| Cricket: Star Club wins inaugural tie | | | Early Times Report POONCH, Oct 27: Star Club defeated Built Club by 60 runs to win the opening match of the Ist Amrik Singh Memorial Cricket Tournament started today at Degree College ground, here. Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, Star Club set a target of 161 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Raja was top scorer with 30-ball 45 while Mohd Fasar contributed 25 (off 20 balls). From Built club, Manik Shah clinched four wickets for 10 runs in four overs. Later, Built Club could not chase the total and bowled out for 100 runs with Khursheed Ahmed being the top scorer with 250-ball 30 runs. George contributed 25 runs. Raja was most successful bowler from Star Club, who took four wickets for 20 runs. Raja was declared man of the match for his all round performance. He made 45 runs and took four wickets. Deputy Superintendent of Police DAR, Rajinder Singh declared open the championship. Information Officer, MA Khan was also present. In all, ten teams drawn from different tehsils of the district are participating in this knock-out tournament. This tournament is being organised by Vijay Kumar, Physical Education Teacher in association with Pankaj Sharma and Manik Shah.
