| Manmohan arrives today | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Oct 27 : Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh is arriving here tomorrow on a two-day visit to Kashmir valley. Security forces across the Kashmir valley have been put on maximum alert with firm instructions to foil any militant attempt to cause disturbances during the two-day visit of Prime Minister. Dr Singh is scheduled to inaugurate 18-km-long Anantnag-Qazigund rail link in south Kashmir tomorrow, immediately after arriving here from Delhi. He will be taken to Anantnag in a helicopter. UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and several Union Ministers will accompany Dr Singh. Senior security forces officers will brief Dr Singh about the overall security situation in Kashmir, official sources said. They said he will also be briefed by Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and his Cabinet colleagues about the development works going on in the state, particularly those funded by Central government. The political parties and other organisations expect the Prime Minister to announce economic, political and employment package for the state, which has witnessed death and destruction for more than two decades. The state leaders will also take up the issue of harassment being faced by the Kashmiris visiting different parts of the country. Dr Singh is scheduled to address a news conference on October 29 and meet the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) at Humhama near the Srinagar airport before flying back to Delhi. The Prime Minister's visit comes a few days after he offered talks with everyone for restoration of peace in the Valley. However, only moderate Hurriyat Conference (HC) and mainstream political parties welcomed the offer and the breakaway HC and other separatist and militant organisations rejected it.
