Jammu, Oct 29: As the Civil Secretariat closed in Srinagar this afternoon for move of the highest seat of power in Jammu for next six months, the government effected modest transfers and postings in the middle rung of administration, mostly to fill up vacancies arising out of retirement of various officers in next two days.
The cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in Srinagar also took some other significant decisions including establishment of an Overseas Employment Corporation and inclusion of 52 more villages in list of backward areas.
Once of the ace civil servants, KB Jandial today ended his glorious career as a bureaucrat and was relieved for his next assignment as member of the State Public Service Commission. Asgar Hassan Samoon, awaiting orders of posting has been posted as Commissioner-Secretary to government Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution vice K. B. Jandial whose orders of appointment as Member PSC are being issued separately. Mr. Samoon shall also hold additional charge of Secretary Transport till further orders, said an official spokesman.
RK, Thussu, Secretary, Animal & Sheep Husbandry Department has been transferred and posted as Secretary, ARI & Trainings vice Sandeep Kumar Nayak who shall report to GAD on expiry of his leave.
Bishan Dass Sharma, Settlement Commissioner has been transferred and posted as Secretary, Animal & Sheep Husbandry Department. Financial Commissioner Revenue will hold additional charge of the post of Settlement Commissioner till further orders.
Kachoo Isfandyar Khan, Director Land records Kashmir has been transferred and posted as Director Industries & Commerce, Kashmir vice Mr. Farooq Ahmad Factoo who shall be relieved to join as Director, Census Operations J&K.
Ghulam Hassan Tantray, Special secretary Law Department shall hold charge of the Secretary, Law department upon the retirement of Mr. A. H. Kochak, Principal Secretary, Law department on October 31, 2009 till further orders.
Sarita Chouhan, Special Secretary PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control has been transferred and posted as Deputy Commissioner Udhampur.
Shamim Ahmad Leharwal, Director General State Motor Garages has been transferred and posted as Director General Youth Services & Sports along with a Common Pool post held by him.
Abdul Majid Mir, Special Secretary Animal & Sheep Husbandry department has been transferred and posted as Director, Land records, Kashmir.
Ajay Khajuria, Deputy Commissioner Udhampur has been transferred and posted as Director, Tourism Jammu relieving Joint Director Tourism, Jammu of the additional charge of the post.
Shafaat Noor, Managing Director, JAKFED, has been transferred and posted as Director, Employment relieving Secretary, Labour & Employment Department of the additional charge of the post.
Mehmood Rana, Director, Libraries has been transferred and posted as Director Social welfare, Jammu vice Mr. Lajram who is retiring on October 31, 2009.
Ravinder Gupta, Special Secretary Social welfare Department has been transferred and posted as Managing Director, JAKFED.
Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Special Secretary and Ex-officio CEO, SUIDA Housing & Urban Development Department has been transferred and posted as Director Libraries.
Fida Hussain, Joint Agrarian Reforms Commissioner, Kashmir has been transferred and posted as Chief Executive Officer, JAKEDA against an available vacancy.
Mohammad Mouzam, General Manager SIDCO has been transferred and posted as Incharge Managing Director SIDCO he shall relieve Director Industries & Commerce, Jammu of the additional charge of the post.
Among other decisions, the cabinet approved opening of Treasury at Langate in district Kupwara. The cabinet also approved opening of Treasury at Kunzar in district Baramulla.
