| Prof Indira tells stories to children in rural, difficulty | | | Early Times Report Jammu: Shantineketan Bal Bhavan J&K organised a special activity "Story Telling" for children in rural & difficult conditions. Prof Indira Mukherjee famous story teller was invited for the purpose. Prof Indira shared stories of all kinds Real ones, fiction, fairy tales & magical ones with children. Children were divided in groups as per their age & class; each group had 30 children & a teacher. She asked the children to share their stories, some shared stories narrated to them by their grandparents & parents where as some talked about their fears & apprehensions. The most interesting feature was her experience with the border children who talked about cross border firing, cease fire, shelling seen by them when they were very young & the way their families went on with life despite the disturbance. Prof Inira shared that for the first time she met children who on one hand are so tender & polite & then so matured in their deliberations. She told them about rivers, mountains, water, earth, air, pollution & environment. Her story telling was followed by drawings by children on her stories & then discussion. She conducted these sessions at St Paul`s Convent High School Gangyal Gardens, Gangyal, Jammu, Army School Kaluchak, N Shantineketan School Indira Colony,Camp Gole Gujral Road,Talab Tillo Jammu & Maharaja Surajmal Institute Of Education & Research Rangpur Mulanian R S Pura.The sessions ended very well with a lot of appreciation for Prof Indira Mukherjee by the children & teachers.
