IGP Gupta interacts with Udhampur locals, stresses Police Public cooperation

UDHAMPUR, OCTOBER 30 (The Inspector General of Police, Jammu, Mr. Ashok Gupta convened a police- public meet with the prominent citizens of Udhampur town in local Police Station besides holding a Police Darbar in District Police Lines, Udhampur to take stock of problems being faced by the citizens and Jawans, today.
MLA, Udhampur, Mr. Balwant Singh Mankotia, MLA Chenani, Mr. K.C. Bhagat, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Udhampur-Doda Range, Mr. Gulzar Singh Slathia, SSP Udhampur and prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the IGP said that Police besides maintaining law and order has the biggest onus of providing security to the life and property of the people for which the police if well equipped and was working with dedication and commitment to extend every possible help to citizens without any fear and favourtism, Mr. Gupta added. In this direction, he directed the Police officers to deal sternly with anti-social and criminals with iron hand an put them behind bars if they have become nuisance for the public over their repeated crimes.
Terming public as mirror of the Police, the IGP said that police can respond effectively only when the people are ready to provide clues to the police about the nefarious designs and activities of anti-national, anti-social and other petty criminals. Mr. Gupta urged upon the citizens to cooperate the police in conducting investigations which would surely help in reducing the crime graph.
Responding to the problems put forth by the citizens, the Inspector General said that the District Police has started Police census of outsiders who have migrated and taken shelter in different colonies and areas of Udhampur town to Udhampur town to verify their credentials so that a strict vigil could be kept to check their activities. Regarding traffic jams and encroachments in the town, the IGP directed the DIG, Udhampur-Reasi Range to convene a meeting with the citizens and allied departments to work out modalities for solution of these problems.
MLA Udhampur and Chenani also spoke on the occasion and gave a detailed resume of problems of their constituencies relating to law and order and welfare of SPOs and VDC members.
Earlier, the IGP also convened a Police Darbar at District Police Lines Udhampur and feed back from the officers and Jawans pertaining to their different problems. He also encouraged Constables and Head Cook, DPL Jawans Mess, Mr. Shanker Dass for their devotion to duties with cash rewards.
Later, the IGP accompanied by Senior Police Officers had a round of different establishments of the District Police Lines including Police Martyrs Gallery, visiting room, NGO Mess, Officers Mess, Canteen, MT Workshop, Welfare Centre etc.
