| CCI elections | | Mohtra thanks to his voters | | Early Times Report Jammu Oct 31: Kulbushan Mohtra , who unsuccessfully fought election for the post of Secretary General Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) Jammu has extended his thanks to all who had voted to him. In a press conference he has congratulated the new team of office bearers of CCI and has conveyed his fullest cooperation to them in their endeavour to serve the traders and industrialists in Jammu. He has said though he has not been elected as office bearer of the CCI Jammu but he would continue to serve the business community of Jammu to his best. He reiterated his demand that the rate of VAT on all items in the poor state of Jammu and Kashmir should be fixed at 4%.The state of Jammu and Kashmir along with North-Eastern states of the country have been brought under special economic package by the Government of India, in view of poor state of their economy. He added that in view of high rate of VAT at 12% on most of the items many traders have not got themselves registered It are the non-registered traders who are benefited, since they don't charge and pay any VAT and thus the burden falls on a small number of registered traders. Mohtra further demanded revival of the package of relief and incentives to the industry in the backward industrial state of J&K. He also demanded special package for the revival of a large number of sick industries in the state. Mohtra also regretted poor state of affairs in the warehouse, transport Nagar, vegetable and fruit market at Narwal.
