Glowing tributes to ‘Iron Lady’,
DyCM names road after Indira

JAMMU, OCT 31: On the 25th death anniversary of former Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi, the Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand on Saturday dedicated Indira Gandhi Road to Khour people.
Minister for R&B Mr. G. M. Saroori, President Municipal Committee, Khour Mr. Ashok Kumar Sharma, Chief Engineer R&B Mr. D. L. Sharma, senior congress leaders, prominent citizens, locals, civil administration officers were also present and paid rich tributes to former Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi on the occasion.
Addressing the huge gathering, Mr. Tara Chand paid rich tributes to Mrs Gandhi and recalled her great achievements and contributions for the party and the nation. He recalled her commitment for the secularism, unity and national integrity. He described her as a visionary who always worked for the poor and down trodden sections of the society India.Under her leadership India witnessed many reforms and developments in the field of science and technology, agriculture, education and medical sciences. He said that Indira Gandhi always gave priority to J&K State.
Listing the contribution of Late Prime Minister in the development of the state of Jammu and Kashmir, he said it was her dream to unite the state with country with better connectivity which is being realized today with the railway line reaching to the valley. He said it was by the hands of Indira Gandhi that the foundation of this great project was laid from Jammu. He said that Late Smt. Indira Gandhi will survive in the annals of the history forever for her estraordinary public image and zest to serve the people irrespective of any consideration of creed, caste, region or religion. He said Smt. Gandhi was the architect of the modern India who scacrified her life for upholding the secular democratic credentials of India.
He informed the gathering that road from Naryana to Balli via Kharah has been named as Indira Gandhi road and this 16 km long road will reduce the journey from Khour to Balli via Narayana, Masyal-Kharah by 10 kms. He asked the R&B department to start the blaktopping work of road from Kharrah to Seoni for the benefit of people. For road widening from Pallanwalla to Akhnoor, he informed that the project is under consideration soon after approval, the work could be start. He said that coalition government was fully aware of people problems and making tireless efforts to provide all basic aminities at their doorsteps including road connectivity, health, education, drinking water, electricit. He said that all the morahas of Khour block would be developed on modern lines at par with towns and cities.
