| Udhampur Village sans facilities since independence | | | Sarita Jamwal Udhampur Oct 31: Villagers of Morha Karal of Ballian in Udhampur are disappointed with their elected representatives for their failure to provide them drinking water and road connectivity facilities. Thus, villagers have decided to boycott forthcoming Panchyat and other elections till the villagers get basic amenities. No drinking water, no proper roads defines Karal Morh of Ballian , a village situated seven kilometers kms from proper Udhampur town. More than fifty families living here have lost faith in ballot process, which they are exercising from last sixty two years with a hope that they might get basic amenities some day but there hopes dashed to ground practically as till date they are depend upon Bowlis and natural sources to fulfill the need of drinking water. Ridiculing administration, PHE department and state government villagers of Karal Ballian village has now decided to boycott the forthcoming Panchayat and Assembly polls till their demands are addressed. Vijay Kumar Sharma a villager said “after 60 years of Independence, we are without roads and are being forced to drink the unhygienic water of the ponds and river as there is no drinking water scheme for our village”. He also criticized local leaders for there utter failure in mitigating their problems. He added that the villagers have been moving pillar to post to get their demands met but all in vain due to negligent attitude of officers at the helm of affairs. .
