| Pre-paid cellphone ban: | | all getting united in pain | | CHAMAN KAUL JAMMU, OCT 31: Nothing unites like pain, this has been proved again. The recent announcement by Government of India for banning pre paid cellular services to about 40 lakh customers due to security reasons has not only evolved afresh agenda for the politicians of J & K but also emotional hurting of its loyal customers. Logically, the point is when procedure allotting SIM cards is same in the case of pre paid and post paid except that of payment mode, then under which logic government ordered banning of pre paid only and not the post paid, customers think twice in the heart of hearts. Government also showing its concern has decided to take up the issue with the Union Government so that worthy customers of state did not suffer. Customers were seen in bee lines outside the recharge vendors for extending validity of the services. Most of the vendors displayed ‘out of stock’ placards in early afternoon to avoid bargaining of unprecedented pre paid customers. However, looking through political glasses the situation is entirely different, as despite being government of Congress in centre, Prime Minister and Home Minister of Congress and government in state of Congress in partnership, still Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee Chief Prof Saif-Ud-Din Soz has expressed unhappiness over the ban. Earlier, President of Peoples Democratic Party Mehbooba Mufti also expressed concern and demanded intervention of Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Mohan Singh. JKNPP chairman has termed the ban is discriminatory and has urged upon Union Home Minister for reconsidering it. Central University, Ayurvedic College and now the pre paid cellular services, the politicians of never let a chance to go without taking political mileage of issues instead of educating the masses about their rights and responsibilities towards the nation. Matter of fact remains that on the one side all the leaders are always concerned about the integrity of country and on the other hand leaders show restlessness over such issues purely taken for larger interest of country and its masses. “Mobile phones, internet and other allied machine meant for fastest communication are for the mentally developed people in the developed countries. As far as, our state is concerned security concerns are always there due to being a disturbed area. I would suggest ban should be also imposed on post paid cellular services” said Hemant Gupta a lecturer and added that even television has become worth not to watch due its uncensored telecasting. “It is good in the interest of national security as well as for the post paid customers as it has become difficult to connect a number for more hours due to over burden of connections allotted by the companies” said a business man Bharat Bushan and added that almost all the companies have spread network beyond their capacities. To earn more money and get ahead in competition almost all services providers are hardly bothered about the hassle free services to its customers, he added further. Meanwhile, Association of Services Providers gathered at Bahu Plaza in-front on BSNL corporate office to protest against the banning of services. According to them 90% connections of total connections allotted by them to be stopped, which will not only hamper the business established but also generate more unemployment? One of the protestors said customers including students will join them if any alternative was not given to them as soon as possible. Moreover, some companies have made mind to change their mode of business by issuing only post paid sim cards on affordable rates to cell phone users. But this time formalities would be strictly verified prior to issuing a sim, said an executive of private company requesting anonymity.
