Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 1: The MLA, Harsh Dev Singh and National Panthers Party (NPP’s) chief spokesperson has flayed the biased treatment doled out to Jammu by the chief minister Omar Abdullah during the releases of funds made by him for the construction of flyovers for the two capital cities of the state. He said that where as the chief minister announced the release of Rs. 250 crores for the construction of flyovers in Srinagar city, he continued with discriminatory approach towards Jammu by announcing merely 76 crores for the flyovers in winter capital of the state. Castigating the minister for step motherly treatment to Jammu, Singh said that there was acute traffic congestion in the city which necessitated construction of fly overs linking different parts of the city including Ambphalla Chowk- Janipura, Jewel Chowk- Talab Tillo, Jewel Chowk- Satwari, Gole Market Gandhi Nagar- Apsara Chowk besides appropriate measures to de-congest traffic at Kachi Chawni. He deplored the dilapidated condition of Jammu city roads dug up by NBCC and ERA creating nuisance for the general public and administration sleeping over the matter. He regretted that the government was looking at this region with a jaundiced eye and doling out the most hostile treatment to this region and Jammu city despite it being largest populated city of the state especially after large scale migrations from the valley.
Singh further flayed the government for neglecting Jammu region in the recently concluded district development board meetings where the lions share of funds was given to Kashmir region in the form of additionalities of Jammu region was subjected to most hostile treatment. He said not only that the government had got Rs. 356 crore approved for Dal Lake and Rs 650 crore approved for Mughal Road with further assurance from the government of India for additional Rs. 350 crore for Wullar lake, Rs. 250 crore for Jehlem River conservation and Rs 109 crore for ‘protection of Srinagar city’. Singh regretted that the tourism promotion of Jammu region was given a raw deal notwithstanding the fact that more than 75 lac tourists visit Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Jammu every year. He further regretted the total neglect of river Tawi beautification project, the lakes of Manser, Surinsar, Dalsar and Sanasar which despite their great scenic beauty had become the victims of regional bias.
Singh said that the NPP would create mass movement against the discriminatory policies of the ruling co-alitian and fight out its highly biased and partisan approach so as to ensure justice and equitable treatment to the people of all regions of the state.
