| PDP leaders touring Rajouri, Poonch say people suufering due to draught | | | Early Times Report RAJOURI, November 1: Terming Congress-National Conference regime as total failure, general secretary of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Thakur Balbir Singh exhorted the party workers to expose misdeed of this regime before the common masses. Addressing public meetings at Rajouri and Nowshere in connection with launching membership drive of the party, Thakur Balbir Singh it was high time to come on streets against anti-people policies of the coalition regime. Thakur Balbir Singh, who concluded his 12 days tour after launching membership drive in erstwhile Doda and twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri, pointed out that in every nook and corner of Jammu region people were complaining about failure of the system. He regretted that people were at the verge to starvation due to non availability of ration but the authorities were unconcerned towards miseries of the common masses. He lambasted the government for adopting non serious attitude towards woes of the commoners. “Instead of solve problems of the common masses, ruling elites are more concerned about their petty politicking”, he regretted. Highlighting problems being faced by the residents of Rajouri, he reminded the people it was during the regime of regime of Mufti Mohammed Sayed that special attention was paid towards this district. He further reminded that work on Mugal road was started and a University was established at Rajouri when Mufti Mohammed Sayed was Chief Minister of the State. He said that PDP has set an example of good governance in its three year tenure. Throwing light on the self-rule proposal of the party, he said that this was only practical solution of Kashmir problem because this proposal aimed at addressing both internal and external dimension of Kashmir problem. Speaking in these meeting party MLA Choudhary Zulfikar Ali reminded the people about revolutionary steps which were taken during the regime of Mufti Mohammed Sayed for the development and betterment of Rajouri district. He, however, regretted that instead of initiating new programme and policies for this district, new dispensation in the State has stopped many projects which were stated during the regime of Mufti Mohammed Sayed. He pointed out that residents of this region have been facing number of problems due to prolong draught conditions but nothing concrete has been done so far to save people from starvation. Shahzad Khan, Arshad Mehbood, Tahir Raina, Master Iqbal Shah, Maqsood Khan, Ashok Sharma, Tahir Lone, Zubair Shah, Tazim Dar and others also spoke on the occasion.
