| PDP urges restoration of prepaid mobile services | | | Early Times Report JAMMU: The PDP today flayed the blanket ban on the pre paid mobile services in J&K and termed the decision as unfortunate. A K Sawhney, PDP Spokesman addressing a meeting said that the ban on pre paid mobile services is like one step forward and two backwards. While elucidating he said that the recent address of the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi UPA Chairperson in Kashmir without a bullet proof shield had given indication that the situation was rolling back to normal, but now the ban immediately after their visit, which has got a wide publicity is an indictor that the situation is not quite well. Sawhney said that the solution is not curbing the technology but using it in a proper manner. He said that there must be checks and balances and every subscriber using a pre paid sim by putting it on record, while the service providers and subscribers are not at fault, but the brunt would borne by them. All of a sudden there would be loss of connectivity and a state of chaos and Dark Age. Sawhney said that before imposing such a decision in the state the cross section people, the political parties and civil society should have been consulted, but such a decision has brought a sudden era of darkness. The PDP Spokesman further said that the Govt claims of restoration of peace and situation improved will suffer a setback if the decision is not reconsidered.
