| BMS demands special judge for labour courts | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 2: The state executive meeting of Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Vijay Chandel state president of the organization discussed various issues related to employee class and has demanded appointment of a ‘judge for labour court.’ Members alleging exploitation of workers due to the contractual employment system in factories and other Govt Deptt. where they serve for almost 12 hours duty without overtime and non implementation of EST Scheme on contract workers. They also demanded that presiding officer of labour court cum industrial tribunal should be appointed soon as the cases of poor workers are lying pending since April 2009 due to retirement of the last presiding officer. They said over 50 % workers are engaged through contractor fail to get even EST cards and alleged EST corporations are responsible for exploitation of poor workers. In the meeting numbers of resolution passed & demanded that wages of daily wagers in PHE and Electrical department must be given which is pending from the months together and demanded the abolishment of ‘Contract labour system’ as prescribed by ‘Contract labour Act 1970 . BMS leaders urged the Transport Minister to come foreword with concrete proposal for revival of SRTC without any delay. In the meeting L R Singh, N K Gupta, Ashok Choudhary, Som Dass, Dev Prakmih, Karan Singh, Major Singh and Shamsher Singh were present.
