Jammu, Nov3: National Cadets Corps (NCC) Day is celebrated every year on the fourth Sunday of the month of November. The 61st NCC Day is being celebrated this year on 22 November. The NCC was formed on 15 July 1848. However, the NCC Day is observed through out the country, because , it was on that day in 1947 that the first units raised in Delhi held a formal function presided over by Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, the then Prime Minister.
NCC Directorate informed that this year a massive blood donation campaign is being launched by the NCC through out the State to mark the NCC Day celebrations. It is proposed to donate blood by NCC cadets at different locations in the State starting from 03 Nov and would last through out the month. The other events forming part of the celebrations are awareness campaigns on AIDS, Cancer, Female foeticide, Anti Dowry. Debates, symposium, declamation contests, Nukkad plays, rallies etc would be organized to create awareness among the students and general masses.
