JCA appeals common people to come forward in their support
11/3/2009 11:48:27 PM

Early Times Report
Jammu , Oct 5
Jammu Cellular Association ( JCA) appealed to the common people of this State to come forward and protest against this decision of the Govt. as in every household of this country has pre-paid connection users.
Recent decision of Central Govt. for ban on pre-paid connections in J&K has brought the sales of mobile handsets to 10% of the normal sales overnight. Govt has not given a second thought on the consequences of this decision before implementing it.
In the newspapers, the situation of J&K is being projected as approaching towards normalcy. The number of security forces is being reduced in J&K. The incidents of terrorist attacks and bomb blasts in J&K are far below as compared to other parts of India. The youth of J&K is being given employment and extra packages so that they come in the mainstream. Then, suddenly, what triggered the Union Home Minister, P. Chidambaram, to take the sudden decision to ban the pre-paid connections in this State.
Thousands of youth employed by Telecom industry will lose their jobs, the dealers selling the mobile handsets or the recharge worth crores of rupees will come on road. This will result in unrest and agitations, which already this State has witnessed for 60 days last year. If the Service providers have given sim cards in wrong hands, then this is a matter of their verification department and the security forces. The culprits should be brought behind the bars. For the deeds of few people, lakhs of people cannot be punished. Govt. has asked the service providers to convert the pre-paid connections to post-paid connections. Please try and understand the ground reality, practically, 10% connections are only possible to be converted to post-paid connections.
They also hoped that the State Govt. will also support and take up the matter the Union Ministry, this decision be revoked as soon as possible.
