| Ultra killed in fresh ceasefire breach | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Nov 3: The security forces foiled yet another infiltration bid when they gunned down a militant near the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir early this morning, a Defence Ministry spokesman said. He told media persons that troops guarding the LoC noticed a group of terrorists sneaking into this side from Tangdhar sector early this morning under the cover of darkness. However, when challenged and asked to surrender, militants opened fire and tried to escape back into the Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). The security personnel immediately retaliated and in the encounter, which was going on, one militant was killed. ''One AK rifle and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militant, he said.'' The operation was going on the woods when the reports last came in, he added. Official sources said more than 1500 terrorists are waiting across the LoC to sneak into this side before the infiltration routes are closed due to snowfall. Since there was very little snowfall, which too had melted, the infiltration attempts from the POK continued, the sources said adding the troops were alert to meet any challenge. They said the night and foot patrolling have already been intensified despite minus temperatures to foil any attempt by militants to enter this side of the LoC. More than 60 terrorists were killed on the LoC immediately after they entered this side during the past ten months. However, more than 20 security personnel have also laid down their lives in these encounters.
