6 of single family among 14 dead in Kathua road mishap

Jammu, Nov 3: In a tragic road accident in Kathua district, at least 12 persons, including six of a family, have been killed while two more were killed and 21 injured in separate road mishaps.
Governor NN Vohra and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah have expressed shock and grief over the accidents. Extending sympathies with the bereaved families they asked the administration to ensure proper treatment of those injured in the accidents.
Reports said that in a tragic road mishap twelve passengers including six members of a family , driver of the vehicle and a police jawan were killed while seven others suffered injuries when a Tempo traveller in which they were travelling collided with a bus coming from opposite directions near Bhagyal More Kathua NHW under the jurisdiction of Police Station Kathua in the wee hours of today. The ill-fated Tempo traveller bearing registration number JK02W/2740 was on its way from Lakhanpur to Jammu when the mishap occurred. On receipt of the information Police rushed to the spot and evacuated the occupants of the vehicle to DH Kathua where twelve persons were declared as brought dead. The deceased have been identified as Sansar Chand (70 years) his wife Rano Devi (65 years) their son and daughter in-law namely Ashok Kumar (45 years) his wife Anita Devi (40 years) and their two sons namely Ankit(17 years) Vishit alias Gugu (14 years) and constable Ramesh Kumar resident of Domana his wife Champa Devi (33 years) and their son Bhanu (3 years) , driver of the tempo traveller namely Kamal Kumar son of Sita Ram resident of Lamberi Sunderbani and his wife Seema Devi.
However, the injured who were admitted in DH Kathua have been identified Harpreet Singh son of Gurmukh Singh resident of Amritsar, Rakesh son of Gopal Chand resident of Taran Amritsar (Punjab), Prinia Chowhan son of Brij Mohan resident of Amritsar, Ajay Paul Singh son of Narinder Singh resident of Chawla Mandi Amritsar, Sachin son of Vinod Sharma resident Amritsar , Atrul Pathania son of Gurmukh resident of Amritsar, Radhim son of Romesh resident of Domana . Out of the injured the critically two wounded persons namely Atul pathania and Radhim were shifted to GMC Jammu for specialized treatment.
In another road mishap one passenger was killed while fourteen others injured , when a bus travelling in it, skidded off the road and turned turtle at Gandeer Pulli under the jurisdiction of PS Billawar this evening. On receipt of the information local police rushed to the spot and shifted the occupants of the vehicle to Billawar hospital where one of them was declared as brought dead. The deceased was identified as Nirmal s/o Sarnoo r/o Dhar Dignoo .
Meanwhile, one person namely Shafqat Hussain s/o Noor Hussain r/o Kan-Kote Poonch died on the spot when a tipper rolled down at Kalidhar Gala under the jurisdiction of PS Pouni this afternoon.
