Road connectivity imperative for development: Khan
Assures upgraded power infrastructure in remote areas

RAJOURI, NOVEMBER 04 – Asserting that road connectivity is pre-requisite for successfully initiating development works in the district, Minister of State for Power, Forest and CAPD, Mr. Shabir Ahmed Khan said that priority is being accorded to upgrade and improve road infrastructure in remote inaccessible areas.

Addressing public gathering while concluding his four day visit to the district at Dodasambala, Saaj, Thanamandi, Manihal and Azamdabad, the Minister emphasized on people’s cooperation to achieve the target and fulfill the aspirations of the general masses. He said due to liberal funding by the centre major development projects have been taken up to bring the state on rails of prosperity and progress. There has been tremendous improvement in power sector, he added, saying that entire infrastructure has been revamped thereby ensuring uninterrupted supply even in those areas which remained neglected in the past. He said the coalition regime is committed to ensure maximum progress within stipulated time frame.

At Dadasambala, Mr. Khan sanctioned Rs.25 lakh for dug well and Rs.27 lakh for eight new transformers. He said that work on Kangarjulla Bridge would be started this month as funds have already been released. Under Rajiv Gandhi Grammen Vikas Yojna (RGGVY), Rs. 21 lakh were provided for 5 transformers and other power infrastructure at Saaj. He also sanctioned 6 transformers for Manihal and 4 Transformers for Azamdabad and assured to provide all necessary power equipment to ensure adequate supply in every remote area.

Regarding Manihal-Azamdabad road, Mr. Khan sought cooperation of the inhabitants and assured to provide suitable compensation to land holders whose land would come under the project. He said proper road connectivity would help raise their socio-economic status to a large extend. Ensuring sufficient supply of ration to these far off areas, the Minister informed that 4 member APL family would be given 30 kg ration while 50 kg would be given to other APL families.

Saying that concrete measures would be taken to improve Thannamandi town with best infrastructural facilities, the Minister said that many development works are under execution to develop the area on modern lines. He said efforts would be made to execute more such projects in the entire town.

Senior officers of administration, prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
