CCI team takes reigns amidst unlimited responsibilities says national security imperative

JAMMU, NOV 4: Newly elected team of six members under the leadership of President Y. V Sharma took the charge officially on Wednesday here at Chamber House. Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CCI) hold election after 9 years and ten months last month and elected the team democratically. Enthusiasm across the Chamber House was witnessed as members, office bearers and the team members started working in routine again after August 5th, when former president Ram Sahai was found dead after receiving bullets in his office at the same Chamber House.
After taking charge formally, President Y. V Sharma while interacting with media reports reiterated his stand towards the responsibilities imposed upon him by gaining trust and support of members in large number. Sharma said that things have changed a lot and thus has changed the time, but new team will strive to attain the pace required by accelerating its speed, IT boom has created revolution, needs to be harvested in the better interest of business community and unemployed youth, he added.
Replying a query, Sharma said that trade at LoC is needed to be looked at as national security is imperative and measures would be taken to make the exercise as trade instead of confining it to exchange of similar nature of commodities. Secretary General Satish Gupta while commenting on the similar question differentiated national security, politics and business by saying that national security is imperative and trade would not be allowed to be taken hostage by politics. However, he suggested that issues should be discussed threadbare with the counter parts in Kashmir and Pak occupied Kashmir (PoK) besides with the government for meaning full and amicable resolution.
When asked entrepreneurs from out side the state desert industrial units after collecting concession and other benefits announced by government, Sharma said that government announced concession for ten years and stopped it halfway thus forcing entrepreneurs to wind up their units. “Secondly, lot of allegation regarding the issue has been brought to our notice which would be considered after verifications” he added. Discrimination cannot be ruled out but new team is capable to take measures by highlighting the same in power quorums to address the menace in larger interest of industrialists as team has a vision to develop Jammu as industrial hub, said Sharma and added that due to non availability of government jobs educated youth are desperately inclined towards the industrial sectors and it becomes prime duty of government to extend every possible help to industrialist to make their dream come true for deploying more unemployed educated youths after getting established satisfactorily.
Pilgrimage tourism is need to be boosted and in this direction CCI would leave no stone unturned said Sharma and added that there is lot of potential in Jammu region for pilgrimage tourism and concerned authorities would extended full support and cooperation to make it possible. Terming uninterrupted power supply as mandatory for the survival of industrial sector, Sharma said that efforts would be made to make it possible by negotiating the issue with government at the earliest. Both President and Secretary General, while replying a question said that any sort of smuggling will not be allowed and government would given detailed information whenever such an exercise comes to fore, so that culprits would be brought to book.
