| SAD(B) stages protest against abduction of Sikh girl in Kmr | | | Early Times Report Jammu Oct 04 To register protest against abduction of a Sikh girl Amit Kour from Bemina locality of Srinagar city and her illegal confinement in the Women Cell, sikh community held a protest dharna under the leadership of Jathedar Mohinder Singh, President Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) outside Press Club, Jammu. The protestors were raising anti-government slogans and demanding immediate shifting of girl from Srinagar to Jammu and handing over to her parents. Speakers said they do not trust the Kashmir police and its biased attitude towards the minority community which was recently exposed in the Rajneesh Sharma custodial death in Ram Munshi Bagh Police Station, Srinagar. Addressing the protestors Jathedar Mohinder Singh and other prominent figures who led the protest expressed their anger over the attitude of the administration, which is working as per the wishes of the majority community and harassing the members of minority community in the state, Kashmir in particular. They said that the said Sikh girl, was repeatedly threatened and forced to give statement that she married to a Muslim boy of her free will. ‘The truth is that Amit Kour was threatened of dire consequences in case she spoke the truth before the authorities, they said and demanded that the girl be brought to Jammu and handed over to the family members besides recording her statement under Section 164 in Jammu. They said any delay to concede the demands will lead to massive protests and demonstrations at all the tehsil headquarters against the treatment meted out to the minority community in the state. A number of prominent social and political figures including Charanjit Singh Khalsa, S. Varinderjit Singh, Col. H.S. Bali, Mohinder Pal Singh Pandu, Karan Singh Raina, Amarjeet Singh Chopra, Prem Singh, S. Babu Singh, S.Narinder Singh (Nana), Mahant Harminder Singh, Rampal Sharma, Rajesh Kesri, Rajesh Gupta, Sanjay Baru, Rajinder Singh, Harbhajan Singh and other took part in the protest dharna.
