Duggar Pradesh Party calls delimitation a farce
7/21/2006 11:01:28 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORTER
JAMMU | JULY 21
Duggar Pradesh Party organized a seminar on continuous Second class treatment to Jammu region at Paraty HQ, Janipur which was attended y selected prominent citizens from the region and the representatives of pro Statehood movement organizations including Rashtrawadi Morcha, Jammu Mukti Morcha, Dogra Liberation Front, Janta Party, Far Flung Areas association an resolved unanimously that statehood to Jammu region is the only solution to end the continuous second class treatment to Jammu region.
The participants in the discussion said that the implementation of Wazir Commission by Ghulam Nabi Azad ( Chief Minister) by allotting three more districts instead of one to Kashmir and only one more instead of three Districts to Jammu as recommended by Wazir Commission is an eyewash. There was no demand from Kashmir for constituting more districts as it has already excess districts from the Sheikh Abdullah’s time. Many districts announced by the government in Kashmir do not deserve even tehsil status . O the other hand, the government ignored Billawar for District HQ in Jammu Division and this is the mentality of the rulers in J&K since 1947 in every sphere.
Uday Chand, Pressident Duggar Pradesh Party, in his concluding address, sid by announcing condition 25% enhancement of the existing assembly seats in each region by fresh delimitation is a mischievous and clearly speaks that the people in Government deliberately wanted to continue the existing political hegemony of Kashmir politics over the people of Jammu region. For constituting the fresh delimitation of assembly segments is a demand from the people of Jammu because the existing seats of Assembly in Jammu region have higher number of votes in almost every a compared to Kahmir anf the terrain of Jammu is more difficult and hilly as compared to Kahmir. Udhay Chand said the announcement of another Finance Commission to look into the equal distribution of funds in J&K, is another blunder of gimmick with the people of Jammu because since 1947, many agitations were fought by the people and number of reports of the various Commissions with recommendations are eating dust in libraries on the subject but by bringing another commission, they wanted to continue the opportunity for misuse of funds by confusing the matter.
While conducting the proceedings of the discussion, Mohan Singh, Secretary General of the Duggar Pradesh Party said that the interesting feature of the present regime of Congress- PDP alliance is that they are opposing the demand of Statehood to Jammu region and talking the unity of the state but on the other hand they are conspiring to destabilize the people of Jammu in every respect, which the British could not do with India during their rule.
The other dignitaries who took part in the discussion were N.D. Jamwal, Ram Pal Sharma
President, DLF, B.M.Kohli, Far Flung Areas Association, Dr Ghanishyam Singh Charak, Somnath Dabgotra, President , Janta Party, S. Balvinder Singh, Convenor, Rshtrawadi Morcha, Ram Singh, Duggar Pradesh Party, C.L. Kachroo, dev Raj Baru, Chairman of Duggar Pradesh Paryt, presided the Seminar/ Discussion.
