Hike in fee structure by various B.Ed colleges not acceptable: JJSF
11/6/2009 11:42:09 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu Joint Students’ Federation (JJSF) raised voice against the mushroom growth of the B.Ed colleges in Jammu due to which the standard of the education in these colleges is decreasing.
Addressing media persons, Pushvinder Singh Manhas, President JJSF said that due to the mushroom growth of the B.Ed colleges in Jammu the quality of the education is being decreased. Administration of these colleges as well as University of Jammu is playing with the future of the students of these colleges. He said that these colleges are blackmailing the students of these colleges and snatching huge amounts in the shape of money from these students. He further said that the students from the outside of the J&K state are allowed not to attend the classes and they just return from their state to appear in the exams once they are admitted to these colleges against which they charge a huge amount of cash from them. He said that instead of giving good education to these students, they are being told by the authorities that there is no need to attend the classes if they can’t but instead they have to pay some handsome amounts.
He further elaborated that there are many colleges which have full arrangements of misconduct in the exams also. They provide each and every solution in the examination centers to help these students to pass their exams and attain the degree from Jammu University. Singh further expressed serious concern that the students doing B.Ed have to join the teaching profession after completing their B.Ed but how is it possible that these type of candidates who have passed their B.Ed exams by the help of mass copying can deliver good and moral education to the students of our nation? It is never possible and hence indirectly the future of our coming generations are being spoiled by these type of practices and responsibility of this will go to the Authorities of University of Jammu, State Govt. and the concerned administrations of the respective B.Ed colleges.
He also said that if the fees of these colleges is increased, JJSF will fight tooth and nail and will not allow any such move as it was proposed by the Chairmen of the different B.Ed colleges in a meeting to increase the fees from Rs. 25000 to Rs. 35000/-.
