| Huge cache of arms recovered in J&K | | | SRINAGAR: Security forces recovered a huge cache of explosives including a six-kg IED and 17 grenades from a militant hideout in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, official sources said.
Acting on a tip-off, troops from Army's 138 medium regiment alongwith Special Operations Group of local police busted the underground hideout at Marsari forest in Drangyari area of Chowkibal in North Kashmir Kupwara district, sources said.
The search of the hideout led to the recovery of a home made improvised explosive device (IED) weighing 6 kg , six Chinese grenades, 11 rifle grenades, two rockets and two 51-mm mortar shells, the sources said adding the IED was destroyed by army experts.
In addition to the explosives, the joint search party also recovered and AK 56 assault rifle with four magazines, 114 rounds, 94 light machine gun (lmg) rounds, 60 pika rounds and a wireless set with an additional antenna, the sources said. However, no one was arrested during the operation, they added. |
