| Chandrayaan-II will be completed by 2012-13: Project Director | | | Bangalore Nov 7 The much awaited Chandrayaan-II moon mission, which is expected to help in analyzing mineral composition and undertaking terrain mapping of the moon, is expected to get completed by 2012-13. According to the Project Director of Chandrayaan Dr M Annadura, the Rs 425 crore project will be completed by 2012-13. Unlike Chandrayaan-1 which acted as a moon orbiter, the second version is two moon rovers which will land on the moon surface. Annadura told media during the inaugural ceremony of the sixth National Student Conference at University Visveswaraya College of Engineering. The Project Director further added that Chadrayaan-II will comprise the spacecraft and two moon rovers along with a landing platform. While one rover will be designed in Russia, the other one will be designed in Russia. The rovers will land on the moon and move on wheels on the lunar surface. The main idea behind sending those rovers is to pick up samples of soil or rocks, conduct a chemical analysis and disseminate the data to the spacecraft orbiting above
