Govt. marred by chaos as people suffer: Dillawar
11/8/2009 12:00:57 AM
Early Times Report
Srinagar, Nov 7- PDP general secretary Muhammad Dilawar Mir today said the present government has terribly failed to make any impact on the ground and the problems of the people are mounting with each passing day.
Speaking at a meeting of the PDP district presidents here today, Mir said while the Government is marred by complete chaos and confusion at political and administrative levels, people suffer for want of basic amenities and there is nobody around to address their grievances. He said the “ power supply position is worsening, unemployment is mounting, rations have become scarce, drinking water availability is deteriorating, corruption is touching new heights and nobody in the Government seems to be interested in addressing these issues,” and added that even the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and Home Minister P Chidambaram have during their recent visits to the State expressed discontent over the delivery of governance. “The functionaries of the Government are keen in photo ops than attending to people’s concerns,” he pointed out.
Expressing dismay over the continuation of the ban on prepaid mobiles in the State, Mir said instead of taking new initiatives towards the State’s economic development, the NC-led Government is allowing the pioneering initiatives taken by PDP-led coalition Government to wane. He said the Government of India must immediately reconsider its decision on prepaid ban. “Most of the problems in Kashmir today are the outcome of the Center’s same imprudent policies,” he said.
Mir said at a time when major political developments are shaping up in the State and the region, Kashmir needed a leadership that could stand up to the challenge. “But, unfortunately, the present leadership governing the State seems to be faltering not only in its administrative duties, but on the political front as well,” he said and added that the coming months are extremely crucial for the State, both on the political and administrative fronts.
