| SO in vigilance net | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 7- The State Vigilance Organisation today caught red handed Parveen Sharma Statistical Officer of District Industries Centre (DIC) Jammu while accepting bribe. The alleged accused official posted as Statistical Officer in Economic Investigation Section of DIC Jammu was arrested while accepting Rs 5,000 as bribe from the complainant for registration of Small Scale Industrial Unit (SSI unit). The complainant Sham Singh son of Paras Ram from Chack Majra Bishnah lodged a written complaint with vigilance officials today alleging that alleged accused Parveen Sharma, Statistical Officer in the Economic Investigation Section of DIC was demanding illegal gratification for processing his papers for registration of an SSI Unit for manufacture of jute bags. The said Statistical Officer had already accepted the first installment from the complainant and was demanding Rs 5000 more for issuing the registration certificate, as per the his complaint. This led to the registration of FIR No.25/2009 P/S VOJ u/s 5 (2) P.C.Act 2006 read with 61 Ranbir Penal Code (RPC) and a team of SVO officials were deputed to District Industries Centre Jammu for investigation. The SVO officials laid a successful trap during which Parveen Sharma, Statistical Officer was caught red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 5000 from the complainant. The tainted money was recovered from the possession of the accused in presence of independent witnesses. Hand wash of the accused tested positive. The accused was arrested for further legal action. Notably, the registration of an SSI Unit is mandatory for entrepreneurs for claiming promotional incentives from various Government departments.
