| SRTC vs Govt; chess game to enter in unfavorable era on Nov 12 | | | CHAMAN KAUL JAMMU, NOV 7: Ministers, legislators, various political, social and religious heads are eagerly waiting for Monday to come when civil secretariat will open in winter capital Jammu for six months. Eagar and impatient for same, State Road Transport Corporation employees having strong itinerary for the season to get solved their long pending problems by approaching even Parliament if failed to get justice from secretariat. On the other hand district administration has imposed ban on shouting slogans near civil secretariat from November 9th the opening date of Darbar. For the last six months several round of talks has remained inconclusive as both the parties government as well as employees failed to develop trust and confidence between them. Government in its offer is ready to salaries of four months and extends no grantee for implementation of Sixth pay Commission, which in no way suits the employees. SRTC employees offered Volunteer Retirement Scheme (VRS) and treatment at par with employees of other state government departments, which government fails to fulfill. Billion dollar question for government raises that why the state government is not taking the issue seriously or takes measures to solve it politically or technically, similar question arises that why the employees are so desperate as they wish to get solved all problems now or never, where since its inception the corporation has remained in headlines for crisis and losses. When asked that administration has imposed restrictions around secretariat premises for shouting slogans and organize rallies, Provincial President Employees Association Ashok Mehra replied that no order can stop them to reach in civil secretariat on coming Thursday (November 12). He said after Parliament Chalo if need arises all state corporations of India will be approached for help to press the government for addressing the legitimate demands. He, however, expressed hope that issues will get solved with sincere intervention of the government. Meanwhile, nearly 600 employees of Corporation reached Jammu from Valley yesterday to join their colleagues in protests here today. Amid anti-government slogans hundreds of employees from both the regions this morning staged a massive protest at Head Office. Command Council meeting was held to decide further course of action, informed sources and added that plans of marching and gherao Civil Secretariat has been finalized. “For the last two months agitation of the employees is on but government has not positively responded to the demands of employees, leaving the fate and future of employees and their families on the mercy of God, a protesting employed said. SRTC employees have been protesting since August 26 seeking the release of six months pending salaries and regularization of the consolidated workers besides benefits under Sixth Pay Commission, but government is showing its helpless ness to address the genuine demands by giving step motherly treatment to the employees of Corporation, another protesting employee added.
