| Sham Lal reviews pace of ongoing dev works at Akhnoor | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, NOVEMBER 08 -Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture, Mr Sham Lal Sharma today convened a review meeting at his Akhnoor constituency to review to pace of ongoing development work. He asked the officers to work with dedication so that the funds to the tune of Rs.6700 crore allotted to state are utilized judiciously on development work. He said that since the time duration for completing the targets laid down for the year is less hence the officers should redouble their efforts to ensure the funds provided under different sections do not get lapsed. The Minister said that due to continue dry spell and for small irrigation and portable water schemes for the benefit of farmers and common masses the Horticulture Department has dug three bore wells for the benefit of farmers. The Minister directed the concerned officers to maintain transparency and accountability while executing the projects. He exhorted upon them to work with dedication and ensure achievements of the set targets. He said that the central government is providing liberal funding for completion of ongoing schemes and also for taking up new projects for overall development of state. Mr Sharma gave on the spot instruction to the Social Welfare Department to gear up efforts and have the left out works are completed like pending BPL pension cases and house less cases. Moreover, the Minister asked the PHE authority to prepare new projects of WSS and irrigation schemes where ever required so that they are accordingly submitted to the concerned department. Later, on the occasion, the Minister presented cheques to 108 horticulturalist amounting to Rs.4.74 lakh under Am Adami Bima Yojna under the scheme the orchardists has to pay an annual premier of Rs.100 and an equal amount will be paid by the insurance company. On natural death of an orchardist and compensation of Rs.30,000 will be paid while in case of accidental death the compensation will be Rs.75,000 and in case of any deformity the compensation will be Rs.37,500. The Minister also disclosed that a subsidy of Rs.13,000 shall be given to the horticulturalist with 90 percent revival rate of the plants in the first year and 70 percent revival up to second year. The Minister also issued engagement orders to the 13 newly selected Rebhre-e-Taleem teachers (ReTs) of Akhnoor constituency. The Director Horticulture, Jammu, Mr J L Sharma said that the department has arranged to sent 30 member group of farmers to Rajasthan for educating them about new technology mission for awareness to other farmers in various fields.
