| Double tragedy: husband dies while protesting wife’s killing | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Kishtwar, Nov 8: Tragedy struck a family twice and double as hard when a villager lost life a bridge collapse while protesting against the mysterious killing of his wife. Flimsy situation gripped the Bojwan area of Kishtwar when a husband while protesting his wife’s killing lost life in collapse of bridge upon which he was shouting slogans, demanding justice for his wife. Woman identified as Barfi Begum was allegedly killed by Special Task Force cops and while protesting against authorities, her husband identified as Noor Hussain died when wooden bridge upon which he was standing collapsed. The poor husband of deceased woman died on spot and eighteen others including Tehsildar received critical injuries while protesting against police over a wooden bridge, clasped. The incident occurred when a district magistrate of Kishtwar was on visit in Bojwan area to hold inquiry of the firing incident occurred on intervening night of Saturday in which Barfi Begum died on spot after receiving bullet. People were holding protest against police alleging that the firing was resorted by Special Task Force. However, police has lodged an open FIR in killing case and is investigating the matter. The injured were rushed to Thathri, Doda and Kishtwar hospitals while the body of the deceased after postmortem was handed over to the relatives’ .The deceased Noor Mohd who happens to be the husband of the Barfi Begum along with other people was protesting against police when the incident occurred. “It is really a sad and tragic incident in which husband of the deceased Barfi Begum lost his life, SSP Kishtwar Hasib Mugal informed and added that Police has registered an open FIR of the killing of Barfi Begum and the investigation is in progress. People of the area while protesting alleged that 8 persons in police uniform resorted to firing at Barfi Begum in which she died on spot. They demanded stern action against erring police personnel. An inquiry committee headed by Tehsildar Haji Abdul Rashid Bhat was constituted for the purpose and the committee was holding inquiry when the incident occurred. In the incident eighteen persons including Tehsildar also got injuries. However, before the incident occurred Tehsildar made contact to the Kishtwar police to know if a police party did patrolling in Ghulati area of Bonjwan which vehemently refused allegation.
