| Baramulla children meet Governor | | Back from Watan-Ki-Sair | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 9: A group of 18 students from the remote areas of Baramulla district, back from their visit to various places of historical and cultural importance in the country, met the Governor, Mr. N. N. Vohra, here today. They were accompanied by two of their teachers and the Army officers who had been with them on the tour. During their 14-days tour, organized by the Army’s 52 Rashtriya Rifles, these students visited Jammu, Chennai, Bangalore and Delhi. The tour was flagged-off from Hyderbeigh, Baramulla, on October 26, and will conclude tomorrow. In Chennai, the touring children visited Mahabalipuram beach, Officers’ Training Academy, Egmore Museum, Vandaloore Zoo, Spencer’s Shopping Complex and sailed for about 5 hours in a Coast Guard ship in the high seas in the Bay of Bengal. In Bangalore, they called on the Governor of Karnataka, Mr. H. R. Bhardwaj, and had tea with him. They visited Lal Bagh, Cubbon Park, Vidhan Soudha, Karnataka High Court Complex, Vishveshvariya Museum, Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium and Wonder La, the country’s biggest amusement park. They also interacted with the students of the Bangalore Military School. In New Delhi, the children visited India Gate and other places of historic and educational interest. They also interacted with their counterparts at the Army Public School, Dhaula Kuan. Interacting with the children, the Governor enquired from them the places they had visited and the experiences they had gained during the tour. They said that it was a lifetime opportunity for them to have such a rich experience of visiting various historical places in the country and seeing for themselves its glorious composite heritage and secular ethos. For many of the students, it was their first visit to any place outside Jammu and Kashmir. They thanked the Army for organizing the visit. The Governor presented gifts to the students and wished them a bright future. The Principal Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Raj Kumar Goyal was present on the occasion.
