| DGP chairs , takes security assessment | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 9: Director General of Police Mr. Kuldeep Khoda has stressed for modification of syllabus for various training courses in the police organization for different ranks as per the latest professional requirements. He said that syllabus should also cover the challenge to fight the latest techniques of militants so that after getting the training they could perform their duties in different fields more professionally. He asked the heads of police training institutions to come up with their suggestions in this regard for consideration. Mr. Khoda was addressing a high level police officers meeting at Police Headquarters (PHQ) here this morning. The meeting which was held after opening of PHQ and other police offices at winter capital, discussed various issues with regard to law and order, anti-militancy operations, recruitment process, crime control, professional policing and pace of construction work in the department. While addressing the meeting, Mr. Khoda urged the officers to work with greater zeal and dedication to get the desirable achievements in different fields. He said that Jammu and Kashmir Police has a big challenge to fight militancy in the State and we have succeeded to bring the terror incidents to lowest ebb during this year. He appreciated the role of police personnel during their anti-militancy operations and ensured the safety of life and property of masses without any collateral damage. The IGP Armed, Mr. Dilbag Singh, who was present in the meeting, gave briefing to the meeting about the activities of Armed Personnel and their deployment in various parts of the State for anti-insurgency duties and maintaining law and order. During the meeting, while enquiring about the progress of recruitment for the posts of Sub-Inspectors already advertised, the DGP stressed that the process needs to be geared up quickly to strengthen the manpower in the organization. The IGP (Personnel) Sheikh Owais informed the meeting that the recruitment is in progress in all the districts across the State and will be completed within the shortest possible time. The meeting was informed that the different phases of selection are going on strictly on the guide lines laid by the PHQ. The DGP said that the acquisition of land which has already been identified for construction of alternate accommodation is to be processed on war footing basis so that the construction work is started and sufficient accommodation provided to police and other para-military forces. He said that availability of funds should never hinder the pace of construction. The IGP Jammu Zone, Mr. A. K. Gupta gave detailed briefing of law and order situation in Jammu Province and apprised the meeting about the achievements of Jammu Police during recent weeks. The IGP Traffic, Mr. Mohammad Amin Shah also gave details in the meeting about the arrangements made for smooth plying of traffic on Jammu - Srinagar National High Way during the winter season and other important routes in Jammu and Kashmir. He discussed the deployment of traffic personnel on these routes. The Inspectors General of Police Mr. Raja Aijaz Ali, Mr. Z. H. Chisti, Dr. B. Srinivas and Ravinder Kotwal also discussed various issues pertaining to their wings and apprised the meeting about their activities. Among others, the meeting was attended by the Additional DGP (CID) Mr. K. Rajendra Kumar and IGP (Security) Dr. Ram Lubhaya. Earlier on his arrival, the DGP was received by senior police functionaries at Police Headquarters (PHQ) and was presented guard of honour by the contingents of Armed Police at the lawns of PHQ. Mr. Khoda accompanied by senior officers inspected various sections of PHQ and interacted with the officers and officials working in the PHQ. Later in the after-noon, the DGP also inspected others darbar move police establishments which include CID, Armed, Traffic, Crime, Home Guard, Telecom Headquarters and ZPHQ Jammu.
