Ministers inaugurates artificial limb camp

JAMMU, Nov 9: Minister for Health, Horticulture & Floriculture, Mr. Sham Lal Sharma and Minister for Medical and Technical Education, Mr. R.S.Chib inaugurated a 3-day Free Jaipur Foot Limbs Camp at Udheywala here today.
The camp has been organized by the Viklang Chhatra Trust, Akhnoor in collaboration with the JRC Home for Handicapped, Udheywala and Bhagwan Mahavir Viklang Sahayata Samti, Jaipur.
While lauding the efforts of the organizers, Mr. Sham Lal Sharma said that Trust is engaged in the philanthropic activities for the last three decades and rendering yeomen’s service to the mankind. He particularly appreciated the tireless services of President of the Trust Mr. Sat Pal Saraf under whose leadership the Trust has earned great honour not only in the State but in other parts of the country.
The Minister assured all possible help to the Trust to further carry on its activities. He said that government would explore possibilities for granting financial help to the organization for arranging Wheel Chairs and Tri-cycles and Artificial Limbs for the deserving beneficiaries. He also appealed to the people to generously donate to the Trust for strengthening its functioning.
Mr. R.S.Chib also addressed the gathering and highlighted the role of the organization. He said that Viklang Chhatra Trust has been doing commendable job for the last many years and poor people are taking benefits from various schemes initiated by it. He announced Rs. 1.00 lakh out of his CDF for procuring Artificial Limbs and other materials for the needy people. He assured all possible assistance from the government to further strengthen the services in the Trust.
Mr. Sat Pal Saraf gave account of the activities undertaken by the Trust. He apprised that till date the Trust has organized 130 free eye camps and 8 Artificial Limb camps at various far-flung areas and more than 3000 beneficiaries have been provided facilities like eye operation, hearing aids, Tri-cycles, Artificial limbs to the needy. He said that Trust came into being during the year 1980.
Mr. Saraf said that Organization is running its activities with the cooperation of general public and not getting any financial assistance from any organization. He sought government’s cooperation to help the poor people in a big way. He also appealed the well off people to donate to the Organization so that more and more assistance is rendered to the mankind. He said that presently the Trust has adopted 50 orphan children and is taking care of them.
The Ministers also released a Souvenir relating to the functioning and achievements of the Trust. They also paid tributes to the Patron of the Trust late Justice R.P.Sethi on whose anniversary today’s camp has been organized. They highlighted his contribution towards the trust and people of the State.
Director Health Services, Jammu, Dr. Jasbir Singh, Director Horticulture, Jammu, Mr. Jia Lal Sharma, Director Floriculture, Jammu, Mr. K. K. Sharma, CMO, Jammu, Dr. Shahid Moghal and galaxy of gathering were present on the occasion.
