| One day convention of Nambardars, Chowkidars on Nov 12 | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 9- To deliberate upon the pertinent problems of the Nambardars and Chowkidars of Jammu and Kashmir, a one day convention is going to be held on November 12 at Dogra Sadar Sabha.
This was stated by former Minister and President Dogra Sadar Sabha and patron Nambardar and Chowkidars Association Gulchain Singh Charak at a press conference here today.
Charak has said that previous Government was committed to restore the identity and powers enjoyed by the Namberdars and Chowkidars earlier and for this purpose a policy is on anvil to provide proper uniform to them so that they are recognized as per the status but it needs still attention as most of Namberdars and Chowkidars are not getting identity cards.
Charak said that Government has already taken a bold step for restoration of their powers by way of enhancement of their monthly honorarium from Rs. 81 to Rs. 501 from April 1, 2007 but there are other demands which still needed Government attention.
