Panun: Centre-State adopting confliction policies for KPs
11/11/2009 1:22:54 AM

Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 10: Supreme Council of Panun Kashmir takes a serious note of the on going political developments in the state, in particular, under the grab of quiet diplomacy pursued by the Government of India vis-à-vis the Kashmir issue. What is most disturbing is the series of conflicting policies of the state and central governments adapted in the matter, to the peril of the interests of Kashmiri Pandits, the victims of terrorism and Islamic fundamentalism. Under a well designed move, the plight of this community is brazenly projected as an economic issue or at best as a law and order problem, while the fact of the matter is that a genocide and exodus of no parallel magnitude in past independent India, as that of the Kashmiri Pandit community, has taken place. Trivializing and attempting to play down the issue of exodus of the aborigines of Kashmir, the Kashmiri Pandits, shall be strongly resisted and fought out, tooth and nail, by the Panun Kashmir which urges the powers that be, to address the core issue of the Kashmiri Pandits. Panun Kashmir also takes strong exception to the stand of the Union Home Minister Chidambaram in the present scheme of things and expects him to come clean on the issue without ambiguities of any nature whatsoever. As a lasting solution to the problem, Panun Kashmir reiterates its firm stand that nothing short of a Homeland in Kashmir, with full flow of Indian constitution, shall be acceptable to Kashmiri Pandits.
Heaping the worst type of apartheid and economic strangulation on the beleaguered Kashmiri Pandit community, especially the unemployed youth, the much talked of employment package has been reduced to a mere ruse, from 15000 sliced now to 3000 centrally funded, about which also no sincerity of purpose is seen, even not in the least, by the state government, no age relaxation or lump sum package as demanded, has been granted, instead evasive and dodging tactics like Apex Committee and the like are resorted to which deserves all out condemnation. On the issue of enhancement of relief amount, the continuous inaction and the silence of the Government is a matter of grave concern.
Meanwhile, the central government of Panun Kashmir evolved a supreme council to make the organizational structure broad based at National and International levels with democratization and more transparency and as a first step towards this objective, all structures including the convener, president and all office bearers were directed to surrender their respective positions to the supreme council Dr. Agnishekhar has taken a lead in the matter by abiding by the directives of the supreme council which once again urges Ashwani Kumar Chrangu to follow suit and surrender his position immediately to the supreme council to cooperate in the process of democratization and the restructuring of the organization at National and International levels. Supreme Council of Panun Kashmir appeals to the community at large at this critical juncture, to be vigilant against the designs of the central and state government and against the vested interests which are bound to harm the interest of the community.
