| Mubarak Mandi – Bahu cable car to come up soon : Kotwal | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, NOVEMBER 10- Divisional Commissioner, Dr. Pawan Kotwal has said that the government would put the prestigious Cable Car Project of installing cable car from Mubarak Mandi to Bagh-e-Bahu will be put on fast track. Dr. Kotwal was speaking at an officers’ meeting to discuss the construction of ropeway from Mubarak Mandi to Bagh-e-Bahu here today. The Divisional Commissioner said that the project will also bring to focus the other tourism sites like Mahamaya temple, Bagh-e-Bahu aquarium and Peerkho besides bringing Mubarak Mandi and Bagh-e-Bahu to the tourism map. He said that in view of the ever increasing number of pilgrims visiting Jammu city, the main halt for the Vaishno Devi pilgrimage, the government is envisaging to develop Jammu as an important tourism destination. Thus, he said would improve the economy of the region by creating varied avenues for the people associated with the tourism industry. Dr. Kotwal said that the project has been studied and the tenders have been called for its execution. He was apprised that the cost of the project was initially estimated to be Rs. 24 crore but in the revised survey it has been projected at Rs. 30 crore. It was decided that a meeting will be convened of PHE, Flood Control, PWD, Forests, JDA, Wild Life departments and other stakeholders to come up with the measures to expedite the project.
Managing Director Cable Car Corporation, Mr. Farooq Khan, Director Floriculture, Mr. K.K. Sharma, Direction Tourism, Mr. S.M. Sahni and Deputy Director Archives were also present in the meeting.
