| Squads to check markets | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, November 10 –In order to curb the menace of hoarding, black marketing and over-charging of essential commodities, Government has constituted Market Checking Squads for the capital cities of Srinagar and Jammu. The squads to be headed by the respective Deputy Director, (Enforcement) of CA&PD department with Assistant Director, Enforcement, CA&PD Department shall comprise, Executive Magistrate to be nominated by the respective Deputy Commissioner, Inspector, Legal Metrology Department to be nominated by the respective Assistant Controller of the district, concerned Station House officer of the area, under whose jurisdiction the area falls for the purpose, Food Inspector of the respective Municipal Corporation to be nominated by the Health Officer of the Corporation as its members.
The concerned SHO will also provide police assistance to the checking squad for the purpose.
The concerned Director CAPD Department shall be responsible for organizing and supervising the market checking by the squad.
All Deputy Commissioners other than Srinagar and Jammu districts shall constitute the squads on similar pattern in their respective districts for the purpose.
The Chairperson of the Squads shall submit weekly report on market checking to the government in the CA&PD Department.
All the concerned have been directed to take effective steps to implement the government order issued in this regard in letter and spirit and conduct intensive market checking to curb tendencies of black-marketing of essential commodities, over-charging of rates by the unscrupulous traders and non-display of rate lists conspicuously etc.
