11/11/2009 10:41:15 PM
Early Times Report
Srinagar Nov 11
The General Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir Kisan Tehreek Ghulam Nabi Malik has demanded immediate relief to the orchardists whose fruit plantation has been damaged due to early snowfall this year.

In a statement issued here today, he said that the untimely snowfall has damaged the orchards in the valley, especially in the kandi belt of South Kashmir where sizeable population of fruit growers has been worst hit. Malik has urged the government to dispatch an expert team for immediate assessment of the damage caused by the early snowfall, so that victims are provided immediate relief, adding that the previous governments seldom lived up to their promises made with peasants from time to time.
