| National Education Day celebrations | | Rich tributes paid to Moulana Abul Kalam Azad | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 11- To celebrate the first Moulana Abul Kamal Azad National Education Day, several functions were held across Jammu today.
On this occasion the college of engineering and technology Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University organized a symposium on the topic “Issues in rural Education in India” which was inaugurated by Masud A. Chowdhary Vice Chancellor while Principal COET, Heads of various teaching departments, senior officers, faculty and students of the college attended the function.
The symposium drew the participants from various schools and colleges of the district and the participants dwelt at length on various issues relating to rural education in India.
Rashid Chowdhary Registrar and Prof. Gohil Director Centre for Biodiversity studies distributed participation certificates to various speakers while Vice Chancellor distributed the mementos to the winners.
Speaking on the occasion the Vice Chancellor expressed his optimism that given the political will the students in rural India can do better and match their counterparts from metropolitan cities. Not escaping from practical hardships in the present world with strong IT and communication strength of India as a nation the rural students can create their own niche in the educational landscape of the present world.
Prof. Sapolia Director Centre for Industrial technology and Management presented vote of thanks.
A similar function was held at Government Higher Secondary School Sarwal.
Speaking on the occasion Principal Nand Kishore highlighted the importance of education and the role Abul Kamal in this direction. A big rally was also organized by the staff members along with the students, which was flagged off by Arun Khanna Corporator of the ward.
The students were holding placards and banners depicting the slogans about the importance of education in the society.
The rally stated from the institution went round the city and finally culminated at the school premises.
