| BJP takes exception to Geelani’s speech at KU | | |

‘The University of Kashmir has become a den of anti-India activities and it is evident from the latest example when Kashmir University authorities permitted to a religious bigot and separatist Sayeed Ali Shah Geelani to use the University premises for provoking anti-India explosions and asking the students to take oath for Jehad, Azadi and Islam, stated State president BJP Ashok Khajuria.
‘This has happened for the first time in 50 years that the sanctity of an academic institution has been eroded by people like Geelani, Khajuria said while addressing a press conference here today at party headquarters.
Demanding dismissal and arrest of Vice Chancellor Kashmir University Prof Riaz Punjabi, he said, “His dismissal has become all the more imperative in view of the fact that ever since his appointment as the Vice-Chancellor, the University of Kashmir has been conducting itself in a fashion like the Deoband School (Saharanpur). ‘Besides Prof. Riaz Punjabi, legal action should also be taken against the State Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who is the Pro-Chancellor of Kashmir University, and has given a free hand to the Vice-Chancellor for permitting anti-national activities in the campus, he stressed. ‘Geelani is in habit of making such provocative and anti-national statements and if he sits quite, his shop will be closed. So, the Pro-Chancellor and the Vice-Chancellor are more guilty for what Geelani uttered in the University premises, he justifying his words said.
Khajuria once again reiterated that the BJP will not allow the Govt. of India to announce any concession to the Kashmiri separatists and protagonists of Greater Autonomy and Self-rule as any such concession would not only give legitimacy to the cult of terror and politics of rabid communalism but would also dilute the Indian sovereignty in Jammu and Kashmir, thus helping Pakistan directly to achieve its sinister goals.
