The Rashtriya Rifles organized its Seventh Biennial Conference at Nagrota which commenced here today. The event is being attended by senior Army and RR Commanders and Commanding Officers and was presided by Lt Gen KPD Samanta, AVSM, VSM, Director General of Rashtriya Rifles.
Spokesperson said, “The Rashtriya Rifles (RR) a highly trained and motivated counter Terrorist Force under the Ministry of Defence is functioning directly under operational and administrative control of the Army and came into being in 1990 and is recognized as the Counter Terrorist Arm of the Indian Army.
Rashtriya Rifles is composed of all Arms and Services operating in a difficult and challenging counter Terrorist environment and is equipped with latest and contemporary weapons, he said adding that Rashtriya Rifles follow the dictum of relentless operations with parallel people friendly activities to bring normalcy in the State.
Rashtriya Rifles over the years has achieved spectacular results both in operations and winning the hearts and minds of the populace, and has emerged as the most decorated force in recent time.
Further in order to assuage the miseries of militancy victims, the Rashtriya Rifles have successfully undertaken civic action programmes aimed at border area development, medical facilities, community development, education / vocational training and adventure cum personality development camps. Most of the programmes have been organized for the population from remote areas / weaker sections of the society under OP SADBHAVANA.
