| Differently abled persons demand transparency in SWD | | | Early Times Report Jammu Nov 12 In order to bring in efficiency, transparency and accountability in the functioning of Social Welfare Department dealing with the vulnerable sections like handicapped, destitute and aged computerization of the department will significance and is needed. This was stated by B L Verma, President, Confederation of Physically Handicapped Organisation (CPCO) at a meeting held here today to discussed the various burning problems and issues pertaining to handicapped and aged. He stressed that computerization will not only benefit the handicapped but will simplify and speed up working of the Social Welfare Department. Verma also pointed out that computerization is in line with the policy and plan up the Central and the State Governments for expeditious disposal of all works particularly the payment of family pension to disabled, destitute and aged persons as also improve the over all functioning of the department. In the second phase, the task of on-line working may be taken up. The CPCO appealed the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, the Social Welfare Minister, Sakina Itoo to order computerization of Social Welfare Department on priority bases as it deals with the most weak and vulnerable sections of the society. The meeting was attended by all the office-bearers and members of this registered organisation.
