| Newly elected office bearers of SCC took charge | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 12: The department of student welfare, university of Jammu, organized an impressive investiture ceremony to install the newly elected office bearers of the students cultural council (SCC) 2009-10. Rameshwari Slathia from the Business School, Secretary, Indu Bagal, depart of physics and electronics, Ankita Gupta, department of library and information science, Meenakshi Anand, department of home-science all joint secretaries took the charge of the office here today. Prof. GM Bhat speaking on this occasion said that the newly constituted team will work fervently for providing a new fillip to the activities of the campus, and assured that the department of students welfare and the campus cultural committee shall strive hard for providing all type of facilities to the students for various cultural and literary activities. While Prof. JS Tara, dean students welfare, said that students have to shoulder the tough responsibilities and come up to the expectations of the university fraternity in discharging their duties. Vijay Atri, assistant dean (Cultural Affairs) expressing his gratitude said that the outgoing team including Sachin Bhagat, secretary, Tabish Tanvir, Poonam Honda and Hemani Kumar, joint secretaries and all other departmental cultural secretaries contributed a lot during their stay in the office and the baton, has to be passed on to the next team. The new team on the occasion assured that it will work hard for the promotion of the cultural and literary activities of the campus. It is pertinent to mention here that this time all the office bearers of the students cultural council are female and elected unopposed. Meanwhile Prof. Varun Sahni, vice-chancellor and Dr. PS Pathania, registrar, also congratulated the new team. Among others Dulari Parihar, Arushi Sharma, CL Bhagat, Vinay Thusoo, Gurpal Singh, Kulbushan Thakur, Balwant Singh and SS Bhalla were also present.
