Numberdars, Chowkidars organize convention, highlight demands

Jammu, Nov 12- All Numberdars and Chowkidars Association Jammu province today organized a one day convention at Dogra Sadar Sabha Bhawan to highlight the demands and problems being faced by them.
The convention was held under the chairmanship of Gulchain Singh Charak former Minister, President Dogra Sadar Sabha and Patron of the Association, where large number of Numberdars/Chowkidars hailing from all over the province participated.
The association highlighted demands and problems included Revision of Remuneration, dress Code for Numberdars, deficiencies in Uniform of Chowkidars, office Accommodation at District/Teshil Headquarters, issuance of Identity Cards, representation at Distt/BIock Development Boards, powers to Numberdars and Chowkidars, shortage of Patwaris, Finalization of claims for Loss of crops, seeds and fertilizers, 50% Budget of the total allocation should be for agriculture/allied purposes only and others.
While thanking the Government for accepting their demands as announced by the Minister SS Salathia, R S Chib, Raman Bhalla and advisor to CM Devinder Singh Rani yesterday on the eve of this convention, the association appealed the Government to fulfill their promises by implementing the decision taken by the previous Government during the convention held in August 2007 in Gen Zorawar auditorium Jammu.
While concluding the session, Gulchain Singh Charak appealed these grass root institutions to extend their all possible help to the Government agencies to carry out the developmental activities and implementation of the different schemes including the Central Sponsored in their respective villages earnestly. He also appealed them to work whole heartedly for maintaining the proper communal harmony in the state and strengthening the hands of the Central and State Governments for bringing peace in this trouble torn state.
Former Minister and MLC Abdul Gani Vakil, former Minister Jugal Kishore Sharma, MLC Jagangir Mir, MLC Naresh Gupta and former Minister Ch Gharu Ram also spoke and supported the demands of Numberdars and Chowkidars.
