Report on amendment in quota act

Srinagar, October, 04 – The Select Committee adopted a Report pertaining to the Amendment in the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Act, 2004.
The Committee met here today under the chairmanship of Minister for Social Welfare, Haji Nissar Khan and adopted the Report containing the views of the Members. The said Report would be submitted in the next session of the Assembly.
A Bill pertaining to the Amendments to the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Act, 2004 was moved by Mr. Nazir Ahmed Gurezi in the last Budget Session. After brief discussion, the said Bill was referred to the Select Committee for observations and recommendations. Now the Committee has finalized its task and adopted the Report.
The Bill envisages reservation of seats in the Degree Colleges and Universities as per the Reservation Act, 2004.
Those present in the meeting include legislators, Mr. Mula Ram, Mr. Nazir Ahmed Gurezi, Mr. Faqir Nath, Mrs. Suman Bhagat, Secretary Legislative Assembly, Mr Mohammad Iqbal Ganai and Additional Secretary, Mr. G.N.Mir.
